Types of Termites in the Inland Northwest

Here in the Pacific Northwest, there are two common types of termites we commonly see. Those are subterranean termites and drywood termites.

Subterranean termites: generally enter homes from the ground. They prefer cool, damp, and quiet environments. You can identify subterranean termites by locating mud tubes that meander up your interior walls.
Drywood termites: live inside of walls and often create exit tunnels to push out waste. You can identify drywood termites by seeing piles of termite droppings near floorboards and windowsills.
